If you are looking to increase your engagement and reach on Instagram then you should consider Instagram Collaborations (aka, Instagram Collabs).
What are Instagram Collaborations?
Instagram Collabs is a feature that allows you to collaborate with another Instagram user. You can use Instagram Collabs to co-author content like posts or reels, and the content will show on both of your profiles and to followers of both creators. This means your content also shares likes, views and comments with your Collab authors.
Why use Instagram Collaborations?
Instagram Collabs are useful to help you:
- Reach new audiences
- Boost engagement
- Avoid duplicating other creator’s content
- Potentially increase followers
Collabs are easy to use, and you can also collab with up to 20 different accounts for even more reach.
When to use Instagram Collabs
Instagram Collabs are great for:
- Growing your page
- Paid partnerships
- Shoutouts
- Giveaways
- Co-marketing campaigns
Only work with creators who will align with your platform and your audience. In other words, collaborate where it makes sense and where you can add value to your audience.
How do you get Collabs on Instagram?
Finding Instagram creators and brands to collab with may be the hardest part of doing Collabs. You will need to do some research on your competition, check out what other brands are doing, and determine what users you could work with that would be mutually beneficial for both accounts.
Keep in mind that some creators will charge for Collabs, with prices starting around $100 per post and up to $1000 per post, depending on the followers.
When reaching out to collab with an account, you can use this template:
I’m [name] from [username]. I’ve seen your content and think it aligns well with my audience [mention a particular project]. Would you be interested in partnering on an Instagram Collab for [specific project] because [give reasons]? Looking forward to hearing back from you!
When did Instagram collab become available?
Instagram launched the Collabs feature in 2021.
How many followers do you need to collab on Instagram?
Technically anyone with a public Instagram account can use the collab feature, but brands typically won’t collab with influencers under 2-2.5k followers. However, the feature can be useful for any audience size.
If you do not have the Collab feature, it may not be available in your country, or you need to update the app, or your account is set to private.
